Morning Prayer Wednesday of week 20 of Ordinary Time

The Reading

Deuteronomy 4:39-40

Understand this today, therefore, and take it to heart: the Lord is God indeed, in heaven above as on earth beneath, he and no other. Keep his laws and commandments as I give them to you today.

My Thoughts +++

What laws and commandments is God asking of us today? For we who are Christians, the law and commandment given to us is to love the Lord with our whole being and others as ourselves.  So whether we are at home, at work, or at play we should be showing love to others. Yet how to we love God.  First perhaps by thanking God for the gift of life itself. Think of the things we will enjoy today, the sunrise, the warmth of the sun on our faces, the sight and touch of a loved one, or any of the thousands of experiences we will have during the next 24 hours. Next consider spending some time praising God, Psalm 150 gives us a little insight on some ways… singing a song or making music extolling God’s greatness in our lives. Finally, since God is everywhere and in everything showing respect for others and all creation is another expression of love for our God. May we all be aware today of God’s love for us and may we express our love for Him and others more freely.
